WILL OUR WEDDING BE RUINED IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG ON OUR DAY?

It's every couple's worst nightmare, after months of planning every small detail of your wedding, but does something going wrong mean that your special day is ruined?

A lot of this depends on your attitude but, in my years of experience as a wedding photographer across many incredible Hertfordshire venues, the little unplanned bloopers usually just serve to break the tension, give everyone a laugh, and are a great talking point - the things couples look back on fondly and make their day even more unique.

As a documentary style photographer, it's my job to blend into the background and capture all of these little moments that make your wedding day uniquely yours, so you can remember and relive these little details as well as the big moments.

Behind the scenes blunders

Table decorations left in a forgotten box, bouquet flowers amended due to lack of availability, DJ setting up at the wrong venue, cheese 'cake towers' cut up into wedges by the venue by mistake, kids bridesmaids shoes no longer fit, a safety pin to hold a dress together, the wedding car failing to arrive causing extreme lateness and timing issues. These are all real wedding blunders that I've experienced (the cheese cake tower was actually at my own wedding!) They may well seem like a huge disaster at the time, but let me tell you a secret - no one will notice but you! You can't do anything about these things on the day, so just keep calm and carry on. These things will only ruin your day if you let them, but I promise that no-one else will even know the difference. They're just there to celebrate your day with you.

Ceremony mishaps

Getting the words wrong during the vows is such a common one. Everyone is nervous, and it's easy to trip over the words. This issue is not exclusive to the couple - I've even heard the registrar say the wrong names when she announces the married couple! Little mistakes are so very easily done, but usually ends up giving everyone a laugh and breaks the tension so everyone feels more relaxed.

The struggle to get the wedding ring on hot, swollen fingers, music malfunctions, children heckling or running wild - little imperfections make your ceremony all the more memorable and create some great reaction photos to remember them by!

The struggle is real: rings always seem that little bit smaller during your wedding ceremony.

And then there are kids at weddings - they're always great for doing the wrong thing at the wrong time and giving everyone a much needed laugh when nerves are taking over.

Rain on your wedding day

Rain really doesn't have to ruin your day, though it can feel like a total disaster when you see that forecast on your wedding morning. There's literally nothing you can do about it, so make the most of it and get outdoors and get the pictures. After all it was a part of your day, so get some great snaps to remember it by.

No matter how much careful planning has gone in to your day, there is always a chance that something will go wrong or plans will be forced to change. The key is just to enjoy every second and don't sweat the small stuff. The little imperfections will create special memories that you'll love looking back on.

Book a documentary style photographer to capture all of those little moments to create a full picture of your incredible day.

JACK AND SARAH

Sarah was great to work with from start to finish! Sarah’s approach is just what we were looking for - warm and friendly to correspond with prior to the day and unobtrusive at our ceremony. The quality of her photography is superb, capturing moments which might have otherwise passed us by.

SOPHIE AND STEFAN

Absolutely amazing! Booked with such short notice so did not get much time to talk about what I wanted but I didn’t need to because Sarah was incredible. Didn’t even notice she was there most of the time but she got the most beautiful pictures, especially the natural ones! She captured our very emotional day so well and even managed to slip me a tissue when I needed one!
