JUNE COUNTRY PUB WEDDING IN HERTFORDSHIRE

Kaisa and Dan had a joyful country pub wedding on a beautiful sunny June day in Hertfordshire shortly after the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, so the flags were still out, making the White Horse in Hertingfordbury look very festive as I arrived to take the pre wedding photographs. It was a truly international wedding; Kaisa's family had travelled from Finland, and other guests had flown in from Germany and the USA to celebrate with them. An extra special celebration for everyone after several years of travel disruptions due to the covid pandemic.

REAL WEDDING - BRIDE Q&A

Bride Kaisa shares her thoughts on their Hertfordshire wedding.

What was your first step in planning your wedding?

"We wanted to ensure that our visions aligned and discussed what we both wanted. Then we set the budget and discussed the number of guests. From there we decided to go fully local and started looking for alternatives."

What were your wedding “must have’s”?

"Live music and relaxed atmosphere. We wanted to create a love bubble for our nearest and dearest that reflected us as a couple."

RELAXED RECEPTION AT POPULAR COUNTRY PUB, THE WHITE HORSE, HERTINGFORDBURY

Did you have a band or DJ for your evening reception? Did you have a first dance – what song did you choose?

"We had a local singer songwriter do an hour's set post dinner and a local DJ for the rest of the night who we gave guidance on music from several decades. Our first dance was a song called 'Chateau Lobby #4' by Father John Misty, who is one of our favourite artists."

Styling your wedding: how did you personalise your big day?

"We wanted to have our table names reflecting some of our lost musical heroes such as Bowie, Lennon etc. I did all the table decorations myself and we had some table cloths handmade by my grandmother. It was all quite natural, neutral with a botanical and bohemian vibe."

“If we could do it all again, we’d…”

"We wouldn't do anything differently. It was a perfect day. (But there was a lot of leftover food so maybe we overestimated our guests stomachs...)"

How did you go about finding your wedding photographer and why did you choose them?

"Sarah was a personal recommendation. She was also local and talented so it was an easy choice. Nothing was a problem, she can manage a nervous bride and groom wonderfully. We would always support local independent talent which I encourage everyone to do."

WHAT THE COUPLE SAY

"We had the best experience with Purple Kite Photography on our wedding day. Sarah was kind and understanding and our photos are as beautiful as our day was. Thank you so much."
